"It's better to be prepared and have an opportunity than to have an opportunity and not be prepared." Whitney Young
As an outdoor enthusiast if there is one message I consistently tell my kids when go out hiking or backcountry camping, 'it's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.' The same goes in life. Ask yourself 'what can I do now to prepare for the inevitabilities of life - aging, sickness, injury and death?'
We generally lead a life day-by-day and procrastinate over things that we know will only provide benefit, if we took some time now. So why don't we take that time now? Usually we are drawn to our daily distractions and busy activities. However, what is really going on, is based upon our mental intention and our values. We make time every day to eat, hopefully sleep, get our screen time, work... so it boils down to two solutions:
1. Time Management
2. Values Hierarchy
And nobody is coming into your life (unless you pay them a lot of money to coach you!) and getting these things organized for you.
Tune if for more insight on these essential life lessons I've learned the hard way.
